I noticed a few days ago that a Buffalo WZR600DHP running OpenWrt
started boot looping.

I traced the problem to the transition from a v6.12.x kernel to a
v6.18.x kernel, and from there, noticed the change in the mx25l128
support. After reporting the regression, I was directed to this patch
series and just tested it on top of the master branch of OpenWrt,
with linux kernel 6.18.44, and the boot looping problem is resolved.
