[PATCH v2 0/3] CDAT updates and fixes

Some CDAT related updates and fixes. Patch #3 does not depend on the
previous patches and could be applied separately.

See [1] for v1. There is some rework going on [2] which might require
a v3 for patches #1 and #2.
