Indexing has to be done into an array with the right size elements. Establishing that only register accesses of size 4 and 8 can occur using these functions requires looking at their callers. Make it easier to see that by using switch statements. Michael Tsirkin observed that there were some unnecessarily long lines in the CXL code in a recent review. This patch is intended to rectify that where it does not hurt readability.
